If a Student is having problems using the Canvas (Student) app on their School iPad (I.e. courses will not load: course content doesn’t appear or doesn’t work, etc.), please perform the following steps on your School iPad:

  • Select the ‘Settings’ icon on your iPad desktop.

  • In ‘Settings’, scroll down on the LH side of the window until you locate ‘Canvas (Student)’.  Once found, select it.

  • From the ‘Student’ window on the RH side of the screen, locate the ‘Reset cache on next launch’ option.  With this option, there is a slider switch next to it (see below), which by default is turned off:





  • For the ‘Reset cache at next launch’ option, tap its slider switch until it turns on/green (see below):






  • Press the Home button on the iPad to return to the Desktop.

  • While on the Desktop, double-press the Home button to show all open apps on the iPad.  Find ‘Canvas (Student)’ from the apps shown, place your finger on it and swipe up toward the top of the iPad screen to close ‘Canvas (Student)’. Tap the Home button to return to the Desktop.

  • From the Desktop, locate the ‘Canvas (Student)’ app icon, and tap on it to open Canvas.

  • Once Canvas opens, tap on the ‘Find My School’ button (see below):





  • In the text field provided, type the word ‘Wayzata’.  This will cause a hyperlink for ‘Wayzata Public Schools’ to be displayed.  Tap on this hyperlink with your finger (see below):







  • You will now be asked to log into Canvas with your School credentials (computer user name and password).  Enter these, and press on the ‘Log in’ button (see below):




  • Once you are logged into Canvas, try performing the operation you were unable to do, or look and see if your courses are all properly displayed.  These steps have resolved many issues Students have experienced with Canvas.  However, if your problem has not been resolved, please notify your Building Tech Para for assistance or "Submit a Ticket" on the portal, helpdesk@wayzataschools.org.
