This article will walk you through the steps to restore your backed up data to your new PC computer.  In order to complete this process, you will need the storage device you used to back up your data.

Where to Start:

Restore your data on Windows 10:

  1. Right-click on the Windows 10 icon in the lower left corner.
  2. Select "File Explorer" from the menu.
  3. Click "This PC" from the left side of the window.
  4. Double Click "Windows (C:) Drive.
  5. Double Click the "Users" folder.
  6. Double Click your username.
  7. Connect to your storage device.
    • If you are restoring from USB, you will see it appear on the left side of the File Explorer window after you plug it in.
    • If you are restoring from your "P" drive, select "This PC" from the left side of the File Explorer window and your "P" drive will be an option to select.
    • If you are restoring from Google Drive, open a browser and login to your Google Drive account.
  8. Open a new File Explorer window.
    • Right click on the File Explorer icon in the taskbar at the bottom of the screen and select "File Explorer".
  9. Make one window your destination and the other window the source you are importing data from.
  10. Drag one folder at a time from the source window to the destination you choose.
    • Remember, this PC does not have enough storage for all of your data. Please try to utilize Google Drive storage as much as possible for storing your data.
    • It's a good idea to keep your data in Google Drive, import it when you need to use it, then put it back in Google Drive when you are finished.
