Issue: I am a student at Wayzata High School and I would like to have WiFi access for my personal laptop to do my school work.

Resolution:

If you are a student at Wayzata High School, you can apply for WiFi access for your MacBook, Windows laptop, or Chromebook through our BYOD program. No mobile phones or personal iPads are allowed to connect to the WiFi through the BYOD program.

  1. To apply for the BYOD program, fill out the following form: BYOD application
  2. You will need to login to your ISD284 Google account in order to complete the form.
  3. You will be asked to provide your MAC address. This is the wireless hardware address of your computer. Be sure to enter the MAC address carefully and use colons between the sets of numbers rather than hyphens. Here is an example of a MAC address: 00:AB:14:EF:0D:3C.

**Please allow up to 72 hours for your BYOD application to be processed. You will receive an email with instructions for connecting once your account has been created.

To find your MAC address on a Windows 10 laptop:

  1. Open Settings and select Network and Internet.
  2. Choose Wi-Fi from the options on the left side of the window.
  3. Click on Hardware Properties. Your WiFi MAC address is listed in the Physical address (MAC) field.
  4. Again, please use colons rather than hyphens between the numbers.

To find your MAC address on a MacBook:

  1. Open System Preferences and select Network.
  2. Choose Wi-Fi from the options on the left side of the window.
  3. Click on the Advanced button in the bottom right corner of the window. Your WiFi MAC address is listed at the bottom of the window by Wi-Fi Address.
  4. Again, please use colons rather than hyphens between the numbers.
